Visita Iglesia 2011

After attended the Holy Mass for the Last Supper of Christ, my family and I went to our planned Visita Iglesia for this year. The heavy rain has not stop us with our annual devotion. We still went on with the list of churches we have in a small sheet of paper.

Visita Iglesia usually starts after the Holy Mass for the Last Supper of Christ on a Holy Thursday. The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament happens to every churches right after the said mass. As to tradition, Filipinos usually visit 14 churches to recite the Stations of the Cross. But my family and I settled for only nine (9) churches. As observed, no heavy traffics, the parking is not that bad, and a few people were seen in the 9 churches we visited. Well, I guess the heavy pouring rain explains it all.

Aside from reciting all my petitions, prayers and offerings to every churches we visited, I have been fascinated also with the different altars of the different churches in Davao City where the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament happens. Here are the 9 altars of the 9 churches we visited with. Thank God I still manage to capture them with my camera under the pouring rain. Some parishes did not anticipate the rain. There were altars placed outside the church and I may say they were bathed with rain.

1) St. Francis of Assisi Maa Parish

2) St. Paul Parish in Matina

3) St. Jude Taddeus Parish (Malvar St.)

4) San Pedro Cathedral

5) Our Lady of Fatima (Fatima Boulevard)

6) Sta. Ana Parish

7) Sacred Heart (Obrero)

Look at the water level below. Just realized why this parish has its second floor.

Oh, our savior van who helped us crossed the flood of water.

There are "kakanins" sold at this side of the church.

Special Espasol

Special Big Macaroons

Puto Cheese

And this Kiddo who seems did not know that she rested her arm on top of the sapin-sapin food and not on the table. Lol!

8) Redemptorist Church in Bajada

9) Assumption Church in Torres

Thank God, we made it to the end amidst the heavy pouring rain. We went home satisfied and full of realizations. One thing is that, nothing could stop us, even the rain if we are really sincere with our decisions and plans for the Lord.

With me are my 2 brothers, James on the drive seat and John on his side.

With my sister Mam Lourie and cousin Neneng.

And on my right is Taweng and on my left is my Mama An-An, who are both camera shy.

I guess, I'll end up here. See you next year for another list of churches to be visited for Visita Iglesia.
A blessed Holy Week!
